a cold, i think

It’s an odd time to have a minor illness. I’m laying in bed on day two of what is either a cold or a sinus infection. (My money’s on the latter; it is October, after all). I took a DayQuil and ordered a new sweater off of ubup while watching Gilmore Girls. I emailed a colleague to send my regrets for the team event tonight. I called the doctor and cancelled a flu shot that was scheduled for tomorrow. I was momentarily grateful that school doesn’t start until next week, then disappointed that I’m missing these beautiful autumn days indoors.

There’s plastic taped over my windows, which increases the feeling of isolation and the stuffiness both in my head and the air. The stucco outside is being redone, and I guess the contractors either wanted to protect the windows or were tired of watching me nap. But there’s a little window cut into the plastic. A way out, a way to see the world. A breath of fresh air in weird times.

There’s no conclusion here, no lesson to be learned. Just a reminder that sometimes it’s nice to sit in bed and watch reruns of an old favorite while your body makes itself better.
